Here’s a San Choy Bow recipe that is quicker to whip up than ordering takeaway from your favourite Chinese restaurant! It’s so delicious and quite healthy too! Chinese lettuce wraps for dinner every night yo!
Continuing with my love for street food, today I have for you a popular Chinese recipe – San Choy Bow (Chinese lettuce wraps). Slightly caramelised fried meat with chili, herbs, mushrooms in lettuce cups, what’s not to love? It’s low carb so you know your hips will be thanking you.
I like making these when I have friends over or when I don’t want to dish out too much money only to get two servings at a restaurant. C’mon, what’s up with that?! A growing girl needs her protein, mate! If you have the ingredients in hand, it’s a quick mid-week dinner idea. And if you’re living alone like me, you can eat it all with no guilt whatsoever. You can also pack it for lunch, with the lettuce leaves in a separate container, and be the envy of your workmates with your restaurant style san choy bow. You could share if you feel generous, but it’s only a suggestion.
I’ve made this version with beef mince, but you could use chicken mince or pieces, lamb, or keep it vegetarian with lots of mushrooms! They all taste superb. Anything in lettuce cups tastes amazing in my humble opinion.
I’ve made these so many times I think I can get them done in 10 minutes tops. That’s quicker than home delivery, people! I hope I’ve given you enough reason to jump on the San choy bow wagon! Hope you give these a try and leave a comment below once you have! Enjoy!
