Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 500 grams minced beef (or chicken mince)
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 cm knob peeled ginger chopped
  • 4 mushrooms chopped
  • 3 water chestnuts chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 red chilli sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 spring onions chopped (green parts only)
  • 1 tbsp corn flour dissolved in 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp coriander chopped (optional)
  • 8-10 lettuce cups iceberg works best
  • extra sesame seeds for garnish
Dipping sauce
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
  1. Heat oil, add garlic and onion. Saute till translucent.

  2. Add the mince. Brown the meat 2-3 minutes on high heat.

  3. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger, mushrooms, chestnuts, stir well.

  4. Add chilli, sesame seeds, spring onions and coriander. 

  5. Thicken with dissolved cornflour. 

  6. Serve immediately in lettuce cups, garnish with sesame seeds. 

Dipping sauce
  1. Mix all ingredients together and serve.
